From 1up:
1UP: Regarding the former Clover Studio's properties -- Viewtiful Joe, God Hand, Okami -- what will you do with them?
KI: At this time, we have no plans of making sequels to any of those properties. I can't say we won't, for certain, but it's not very likely or appealing. If we had no other properties to depend on for making new games, we might be desperate enough to create sequels to those titles, but that's not the case. We have a lot of titles that we want to make and other sequels that are waiting to be made. So, there's no interest at the moment.
1UP: But Capcom owns the rights to Clover Studios' intellectual properties, right?
KI: Yes. But, we're just not interested in them.
What the fuck Capcom? I was ok with revivals of old franchises like Street Fighter, Bionic Commando, and Mega Man. The new stuff like Dead Rising and Lost Planet was solid. And I still love the mainstays like Devil May Cry and Resident Evil.
But why in the fuck would you write off some of these great IPs? Do they honestly just hold a grudge against Clover Studios?? Capcom can't say that they are not willing to hand these franchises over to another team, because they have done that with DMC, Resident Evil, and countless other franchises they own.
How can you not be interested in Okami??? In my eyes this WAS the Zelda killer. What the fuck!?!?
This shitty decision from Capcom has to be purely fucking financially driven. The first game did sell poorly. The sad part is, I honestly think that a sequel could have sold really well. A lot of times new IP that is critically acclaimed will sell infinitely better the second time around.
If you don't want Okami, Crapcom. Give it the fuck to Platinum Games. Give them Godhand as well.

This is the most disappointing news I could've imagined. Okami is one of my absolute favorite games and I was really REALLY looking forward to more. Almost everyone I know loves the game. Sales weren't stellar, but COME ON why do they have to drop such an innovative unique title? And for what? Some rehashed shit that we've all seen a billion times? Not that Capcom sucks, but this is just really upsetting.
I just cannot explain how disappointed I am.
Okami was one of the late titles to enter PS2 in the Americas and kept hopes up for people. I hoping for more too..
Raccoonboi
I want my damn Okami 2! Curse you Capcom >=O
Tanuki, it also came out for wii as well. I don't think it sold any better though :/
I agree, Okami is the 2nd best zelda (no game can beat majora of course :| ). It even came out for the wii, but who would buy a masterpiece like this when you can get wii fit for twice the price ?
Fuck.
This isnt the first time Crapcom has done this. I remember when i first played Monster Hunter. It was my favorite game on the PS2, even better than GTA! When i heard that there was a sequel I went ape shit! All the new monsters, weapons and such! Only to have my dreams crushed when Capcom decided not to release it here in the US. Probably driven by money as this most likely is... But maybe if they had spent more than 50 bucks on advertising Monster Hunter they might have turned a profit...
Kind of sad seeing Capcom making this decision, considering Godhand and Breath of Fire were really good games, not to mention that Okami was also a hit not only with the players but also the charts. Let's hope they don't concentrate all their "money making" schemes towards Resident Evil, because that's not what made them a great company back when they were still young.
i honestly prefered it to twilight princess.
but not wind waker, that was the shit.
Crapcom that bunch of chaches...
Bring back Megaman Legends, at least.
Okami is a brilliant game, and hands down one of my favorites. So is viewtiful joe, so when I heard this news....I don't know. It seems the soul of Capcom is slowly deteriorating.
Thanks, Capcom! Great fucking job.
If Capcom has no plans on making new games in the God Hand, Okami, and Viewtiful Joe series they might as well hand back the rights to the games to Platinum Games so at least there's a chance of new games coming out. With Capcom's recent trend of remaking classic games, they should at least try and see if these games are worth investing some time and value into them.
