You Ask, David Answers: What is Gurren Lagann?

Thanks Ukitake987 for the question. He asked about how Gurren Lagann came packaged. I sort of elaborated on it a little.

Thanks,
David

Gurren Lagann is great and has an amazing art style. My head is spinning from that explanation of the boxes though. It sucks that the discs are so inconsistent on packaging and pricing. The big box is nice but I like those covers much more. And that core drill is silly, a Kamina flag would be much cooler.

Thanks for the explanation David.

Aah, such is the life of a collector. They know you'll spend extra on the box, and it does suck when you look back at how much money you could have saved and used on more shows/memorabilia. . . But at the same time, you'll look at your collection and feel good knowing you are one of the few with all of it. =) I think that's worth it. Thanks for the insight.

Damn why couldn't they have just done something like here's each one separately, and here's all of them with some extra stuff. It's just so much easier not only for us but I'd think for them to make it too.

And update us on what's going on for Ikkicon. Unless you already have and I just missed it.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the double discs include only the sub, while the discs that are not out yet will have both the dub and sub. So with the box set, you gain more options.

Gurren Lagann is one of my favorite shows. Yet I have not purchased anything except a wallscreen.

Generic Anime girl characters. They're generic yet so fun to look at.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is the full name, it's a great series and I'm glad you're getting into it.

You look really beat but I hope you enjoy Ikkicon.

I think in terms of sales it's actually a great idea as they can target separate groups, for people who just want to watch the show and those who want the "True Set".

It's a real test for you as a collector though as that 10 dollar price cut is very appealing and frees up a little space, all of which adds up to large amount of money and space over time.

Keep doing what you're doing, I hope it all works out for you in the end.

Thanks for another great video blog, get some sleep.

TTGL is one of my favorite series!

I relate to your talk about collecting though. I don't buy as much DVDs as I used to but I remember when Evangelion was first being released on DVD I bought each DVD that had each character. Then they released a collector's edition with the box and all the DVDs then they released a Platinum edition which is the thin packs then I think there was one more edition. It's crazy and sometimes it upsets me because I already bought one edition I don't want to buy another but I want the cool extras. Meh.
