Holy crap... Ubisoft is actually selling the end to Prince of Persia.
No one buy this. Don't help set such a horrible horrible precedent. Not even Namco Bandai would sink this low. Youtube the cutscenes if you want closure. This is bullshit.
This really is bullshit, I liked Prince of Persia and was excited that the ending in the game foreshadowed sequels in the future; but selling the next part of the story as DLC is terrible.
Seriously? They are using DLC to close up more of the story?
I mean, with stuff like Lost and The Damned, it isn't a part of the main story, BECAUSE IT WAS FINISHED IN THE RETAIL GAME. I'm really trying to like you Ubisoft, but you are making it really difficult.
you shouldn't need to pay extra to finish your game, thats like playing a demo. I can imagine a window popping up say "this is were the retail game ends, too continue please download loads of extra crap
People, don't you see? They're giving us freedom of choice. By stripping this content from the game and holding it off they're allowing us to choose whether we want to end the game or not. These artistical tactics of taking out entire sections of a game and selling them seperately is a step foward for the industry and gaming as a whole.
...no really, fuck this shit. I'm tired of making this point about last and this gen games, but no matter what it's going to come back. Why do they fucking insist in taking out the extra content in a game and keep packaging it as DLfuckingC? Its rediculous. Look at last gen games and you'll see that stuff like time trials or bonus outfits were already in the game. To make them fun and rewarding. Y'know, getting what you paid for. Not these days of course. Through the magic that is digital distribution, greedy companies now look like this - $.$
Look at Mirror's Edge. Those time trial levels should've been an unlockable in the game. It would've added replay value and given the game just a little more respect. Instead they choose to hold off on it and sell it at a later date. It's Goddamn pathetic.
One of the goals of DLC is it should be a way of lengthening a games life span after people have had their good times with it. DLC should either be a planned, lengthy and huge package but released a fair time after the games release or small packs but which are created after the game has gone gold and offer up something truly interesting and fresh and not a generic costume pack.
If you're going to take out content that blatantly should be in the finish product, like the FUCKING ENDING, and sell it through XBLM/PSN Store overpriced and only a few months or even weeks later, then fuck you [insert developer/publisher].
Sorry for the stressful overtone and rough rant, very sleepy at the moment.
Why would they push the damn story so far with the DLC? This just like jumping the gun with what they have, adding more shit to the game. It's just pathetic that Ubisoft never thought of other ways to avoid such a tragic flaw.
This seems like the cheapest bullshit trick I've seen in a while, leaving the game on somewhat of a cliffhanger and instead of going on to follow it up with a sequel they are pretty much saying, "Hey, so you wanted the ending to our game? Well you have to buy this shit separately!".
I've said this about DLC numerous times before in chat and once or twice on the forums. Downloadable Content CAN work, but when developers just see it as a quick fix to an unfinished game then it's just going to lead to unfinished shitty retail games with the mindset that "Oh hell we'll just fix that shit with DLC".
Though I know that GTA4 had a number of issues I really think developers should follow Rockstar's example on how DLC should really be made. It improves on a lot of stuff, mainly by adding checkpoints and is an entirely new story.
Until developers take DLC seriously, this bullshit is going to keep happening. I just hope they wise up soon enough and learn to FINISH their games before putting them on retail shelves.
So wait...do you think they weren't finished with the game...so instead of missing the release date they just threw in a cliffhanger ending so they'd have more time to come up with something. And this is the BS they came up with. Damn you ubisoft

And here I thought they couldn't get any lower. Where will they end with these ridiculous actions?

And to think Ubisoft, at one point, was my favorite game company. This is frustrating beyond belief.
