Dark Knight Game Update

Earlier today, Kotaku posted some information from a seemingly credible source concerning the yet to be announced Dark Knight game. The game is apparently set in a open world, GTA style Gotham city with grappling hooks and gliding all present. The souce also apparently confirmed Pandemic as the developers but went on to say that the game is not in great shape. What was intriguing was the suggestion that the game might be based on the events that take place after the Dark Knight ended. Cool. Hopefully, the developers can use this abundance of time and lack of a final release date to clean the game up and make it fun.

When I went on Kotaku this morning and read about this the first thing I thought to myself was, "I wonder if Nicks seen this?" lol

tbh, I think Nolans Batman in an open ended world is a bad choice. Batman may be a super hero, but he's still human. He can't exactly save everyone on the streets now. Throughout the films he's always striked at the source of criminal organisations and tried to become a symbol of fear for the villains. This sort of gameplay is suited to more linear levels imo (Although theres no reason for multiple paths/options to choose from). Spiderman in an open ended world makes great sense due to his 60mph swinging, is agility and strength to take out 15ft robots etc. I just can't see Batman driving the Tumbler around to do side quests. And in that suit I think parkour is out of the question.

Still, there's no point criticising something you know virtually nothing about. For all I know it could turn out to be a great idea after all. We'll just have to wait and see...

Huh, who'd a thunk it. Seems that the games been revealed to be Batman: Arkham Asylum, and it doesn't seem to be related much to Nolans Batman films at all. Looks more comic driven yet with a gritty style. Nice. Now I do have more faith in this game. Here's a link.

Fun Fact: The developers, Rocksteady Studios, also seem to have made Urban Chaos. Wonder if Brad would be interested. lol
