Brad's Laundry List - "New Found Love" Edition

I have discovered what is now one of my new favorite video game franchises. I had always thought the premise of Hitman was creative, but I never could get over the steep learning curve of the mechanics. Well my friends, that cliff has been conquered, and I am now a "silent assassin" for life. Fiendishly clever assassination scenarios and brilliant level design easily outweigh the iffy control mechanics and flaky AI. Add in a heavy dose of dark humor, and you can see how the series manages to stand up with the best of the genre (I'm looking at you Sam and Snake). A new Hitman is coming out in 2010 and I could not be more excited. Anyway, here is everything else I'm working on.

Completed:
Hitman: Blood Money
Fallout 3: Point Lookout

Working On:
Overlord - (33%?)
Assassins Creed - (5%)
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin - (8%)
Crackdown - (65%?)
Klonoa Wii - (30%)
skate - (istillsuck%)

Temporarily Done With:
Prototype - (25%)
Ghostbusters - (60%)

Handhelds:
Mario vs DK: Minis March Again - (70%)
Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite - (0%)

How do ya come up with your percents? I ask because you have an 8% opposed to a generally simpler 5%/10% integer (or whatever you'd call it) Do you just feel like that's about how far you're in?

so i know you're temporarily finished ghostbusters because it was just a rental, but what's the excuse for prototype? Too bland?

Glad you ended up liking Hitman: BM so much. Gives us hope for Nick maybe liking Haze that he was never all that interested in, or anyone else who feels distaste for a game they couldn't get into originally. Just shows you can enjoy most games, even if you don't like them at first.

So is Assassin's Creed a second run-through for you just because the second is coming out late this year, or have you really only been 5% in it since it's release? What's the deal on that?

I would still be interested in seeing more Skate sooner than later, even if you still suck at it.

putting up 1% in monster hunter would be a crawl coz the game is damn hard!! I've gotten pretty good at the controls and monster hunter is pretty boring at first. But at least try to play until you get your first weapon/armor set that you want to grind for, after that it gets interesting. Try to give the camera controls a chance because after a few missions you'll get used to it.

I am really glad to see you so satisfied with Hitman, Brad. It's long been one of my favorite series around. Even then, I will agree with you in that the controls feel dated and restrictive, but its all about the environments and scenarios. Just wait until you get to the "Traditions of the Trade" mission in Contracts.

And I'm sure it's common sense, but as a Hitman fan, steer very clear of the Hitman movie.

Crackdown looks like fun, I gave it a try awhile back from the demo.

I still want to see you finish Assassin's Creed. Just don't make it a chore trying to finish that game man. It's very good.

I'm glad you're starting to love the Hitman series. They're amazing games in my opinion, my favorite stealth action games no contest.

And hey, I'm just now playing Assassin's Creed too!

Blood money was, to me, the magnum opus of the Hitman series thus far. I think they really ironed out the kinks of the earlier games and created something very enjoyable.

People sing praises about Silent Assassin, and while I agree it was indeed a great game, it really doesn't hold a candle to Blood Money in my opinion. Still, it'll whet your appetite for more Hitman until 2010 rolls around.
