The Official Announcement

Back in February, I received an email from mrfabulous about a not too big, not too small convention in Maine. He asked if we'd be willing to attend. At the time it sounded nice, but travel all the way to Maine seemed a little impossible as it was out of the way. Also we're not exactly the most well known Podcast on the internet so we were worried as to how many people would actually know us.

But because fab had asked so nicely I asked a few of the guys to see if they were interested in going. Travis is up for anything so he was in and when I asked Mike, he replied with his usual, "Sounds Cool." An email was sent out to PortConMaine inquiring about the possibility of having us as guests.

I never expected it, but they responded quite positively and offered us a booth and time for a panel. Now all of a sudden we're traveling to Maine to do a panel. It's come to my attention that there will be a handful of you guys possibly making the trip as well.

The obvious thing we should have is a meet up. In addition, we're kind of up in the air as to what we're going to talk about during the panel. If any one wants to give suggestions on what might be interesting, maybe something Anime related since it is an Anime Convention. Also, I kind of volunteered myself to help out with the Video Game Room at PortCon. Maybe we could set up some sort of video game competition or get together to play games?

I mean we are traveling all the way to Maine, so I'm expecting to completely have a blast. So if you're going to be attending PortCon Maine June 18-21, let us know.

Thanks,
David

You could do Valkyria Chronicles as an anime or a game...

Most anime conventions have plenty of game things as well, but most panelists come to announce something, such as a new project they're working on or something. They also sometimes have a nice video to play. You could also always do an open Q&A, but you already pretty much do that for your podcast anyway. Most panels go on for a half hour to an hour, so the most I can suggest is maybe talk about whatever you want.

You should get a t-shirt air cannon and shoot 4pp shirts at the convention goers

I'm going! There is a thread in the forums, too, where people are discussing some "where" and "hows" and "whos" about it.

As for the Panel, a small intro, maybe some highlights, maybe a quick discussion between the three of you about what you've been playing recently and your impressions like a mini podcast, then Q&A should take up a lot of the time. I'm pretty sure even if you go in blind, you'll come up with something exciting and fun for us all. For those at the con who don't know you at all could ask some pretty time-consuming questions like "how'd you meet?" I think you guys will be fine.

Yea you guys should talk about the Valkyria Chronicles anime and maybe show a clip of it and the game to get some hype for the IP. But obviously talk about who 4pp is and get more viewers.

Awesome, can't wait to see you guys there. Also, the theme for this year is super heroes so maybe you could have your panel focused around that.

The most I can think of at the moment is the have a few videos ready from the highlights or fresh ones you guys could create, try to grab a bit of interest by discussing some animes that could be not as mainstreamed over in the US to keep the attendees interested, probably a Q&A towards the end of the panel, since most panels or presentations I know or gone to do that usually at the end.

Whatever you guys decide, hopefully I'll be there to see.

Ouch, a 4 and 1/2 hour trip isn't too long for a convention (although Sitacon is closer, only around 2 hours) but the timing couldn't be more inconvenient, Otakon is right around the conner and I've already got my badge for that.
