Discussion Part II - How Females Are Viewed

I think people misunderstand me when I write about the Women I Gave My Heart to. I especially think they misunderstand when they see me watching Idolm@sters/Jpop videos of cute girls who may or may not be underage. I'm not denying that those things interest me. I love cute things. As weird and different as it is for a 6"2", 27 year old Chinese Man to like those things, I honestly do.

A point I'm trying to make in this weeks discussion is that not everything is about sex. A lot of life is sure. I won't try to argue that Japan is less sexual than America. I'm sure there are people out there who watch what I watch and get something completely different out of it. I used to think I should hoard Japanese pop and try to keep it out of the hands of perverts. But I can't judge who is and who isn't. All I know is myself. Here is my conclusion.

Humans want what they can't have. They strive for that. Like reaching for the moon. I can never be a cute Japanese girl. Before you start going off saying stuff like David is a homosexual. Or David wants to be a woman. Look at it for it's basic function. I admire something so I imitate it.

Have you never made wings out of paper and put them on your back pretending to fly. Can a monster dream?

Some people like it. I've had people say it's hilarious. Others call me a perv or ask what's wrong with me. The point I would like to make here is that there is a misunderstanding. People don't understand. Why does this person like these things? They don't comprehend the situation so their first reaction is to be against it. I've reacted the same way with things I didn't agree with. It's a quite normal human reaction.

The truth is, the female form is beautiful. Really, I'm talking to all the girls and women who read this blog and who may eventually read this blog. You are beautiful. Just because you were born a female you are infinitely more beautiful than a man. No one wants to look at a man's body. We're gross and hairy and protruding. If you've ever seen that episode of Seinfeld, where they compare a man and a woman's bodies. Men are like a utility vehicle, used primarily to get around and get stuff done but not to be admired and displayed.

So how does this come into play with how females are viewed. It's difficult because on the one hand, we want to look at women and admire them for being more beautiful. Then as a society we're learning not to objectify them and treat them as pieces of meat. On top of that you have people, both men and women, who will use that beautiful to exploit others. It's all a very confusing mess and there are certain things we think are ok to say, but when you really think about it, it's pretty fucked up.

To be continued,
David

It takes a real man to admit he wants to be a japanese schoolgirl. Honestly though I understand now, and respect you a lot more.

Well, it really shows how close-minded some people really are. I remember yesterday when you were playing GrimGrimoire some guy in chat said to "play an American game." Now, I hate ignorance, but just because a game doesn't have torrents of blood shoot from the arteries of the slain doesn't mean it isn't a good game. You keep doing what you do David, because there are people watching who like that stuff too.

David, don't let close minded people get you worked up. Admiring and enjoying a video game, music or an anime series (doesn't matter what country the product was created in)is a good thing. As long as it makes you happy that is all that matters. I think it's cool that you share this stuff with us. It's human to like girls or guys no matter how old they are. And not everything is about sex, for me its about the clothes or the hair style or perhaps it's their accent that I think is awesome.
Because you like something and someone else doesn't, does not mean that you should stop watching anime, listening to music or even playing a video game.

David, you're cool in my book!

Ive never actually thought of you as either a weird person, or a perv(i hate that word). I know tons of people who admire things more than most people. For me, i like Kingdom Hearts, alot. Ive always wanted to go to a cosplay and dress up as sora or riku. Wielding Keyblades, its something i admire, its something im overly obsessive about. I hardly care what poeple think, because i know theres people out there who admire it as much as me.

Good read, and you shouldnt really care what poeple think, theres a lot of ignorance in the world

I think there's something problematic about constructing all women as beautiful and contrasting that construction with one of males being "ugly" and "utilitarian." It buys into traditional gender roles of women being 1) defined by their appearance 2) being limited in ability and 3) dependent on the capacities of men to survive.

This, I admit, is all very difficult stuff. I've been working through it for a while now, trying my best to see the world from a feminist point of view (at least more than I did, say 5 years ago). I know that I come up short a lot of times. And there are plenty of things I continue to accept blindly due to imperceptible sexism.

Baby steps.

Society views sexual exploration as a weird, perverted, etc. All these other branches of unconventional porn, like furry and loli are probably enjoyed by people who were at one point interested in conventional male-female porn, but it just doesn't do it for them anymore, so they go searching for something different. They shouldn't be looked down on for it. When they start being pedos and hanging around primary schools is when thing start to get a bit extreme.

Aww, David. That was really deep, and you definatly gave me a self-esteem boost. More girls like me need to be told that we're pretty once in a while.
I'm looking forward to hear more of your opinion on this. <3

"I won't try to argue that Japan is less sexual than America."

Good, don't. Because America is thee most uptight nation on sexuality ever! I really wish we'd get over ourselves and be more open like Europe, though I guess its because most everyone in America is a fat-ass.

"Men are like a utility vehicle, used primarily to get around and get stuff done but not to be admired and displayed."

I agree completely. I think I knew that even as a child, and thats why I loved to hang around girls all the time and be more like them. Now as I grow older though and this year I turn 20, I've adopted more of a "guy" out look on life. Though I have some pretty radical ideas on my sexuality.

" It's all a very confusing mess and there are certain things we think are ok to say, but when you really think about it, it's pretty fucked up."

It is, not much is going to change that. Even as we progress technologically, socially, medically and governmentally; we still hold onto the cave man like instincts. Its sad really.
