Portable Problems

So I have a question to ask everyone. It may seem stupid and I should have better things to do -- but fuck you, mind your own business.

I own a PSP and a DS. I own lots of games for these systems. Both are also modded. I've decided that I do want to play a traditional JRPG on the go. So here is the problem.

Which do I choose?

1. An old RPG that I have played through (and enjoyed) before. Something I know is great -- but a game I have not played in ages. I know I will not be let down by the experience, and there could be a chance I will appreciate the game even more, but I worry of the feeling it is a waste of time. Also, there is the possibility that I may come to realize much of my love for the particular game is soaked in nostalgia.

2. An old RPG that I have NOT played before, albeit one that is critically acclaimed. The real issue here is I may be choosing a game that "I had to be there" to enjoy -- a game potentially put up on a pedestal by some elses nostalgia. I could end up with a poorly translated story and a game with dated mechanics I'm not able to forgive.

3. A modern, and most likely, mediocre RPG. This would decidedly be the most "dangerous" choice, as it seems most games in this genre are not great until they have been out for a decade. My problem with choosing a game from this era is that it might further reinforce my belief that the JRPG genre is in the shitter this generation. Then again, fucking up with a choice from one of the other categories could be more troublesome, as an un-enjoyable experience there would probably convince me that the entire genre has always sucked.

4. Lumines. This choice is not supposed to be here, but fuck if I'm not a realist.

I know many who are reading this already have an answer they are working out in their head. Especially the nerd in the brown shirt. Yes, you. I must make it clear that your time and effort thinking of an answer has been a waste, as I never have time to play my handhelds.

Thanks anyway,

Brad

That is a really hard question to answer but I can at least say if you want to play an old jrpg that was also very popular in america go with DS ports since they seem to be hitting that market of games well. If you are looking for new jrpg handheld games go with the PSP.

This is a hard question because there is a 50/50 chance you could have success or failure with your ultimate choice.

Uhh... My friend told me to go with no. 2... Yup not my choice just some random person next to me. He says better try something new and risk it all! But then again, I did not tell you to pick that choice...

Lies, you'll find time eventually. Maybe in your retirement. Else you wasted precious money on your handhelds.

Guess Number 2 would be the likely choice. One can never know with you, Brad.~ Hard to please. =P

did you ever beat Jeane D'arc? I'd suggest that if you haven't. If not, its number 2 all the way. Possibly something like Beyond The Beyond for psone

I would go with Chrono Trigger. Michelle just bought me the final fantasy chronicles for ps1 with final fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger, so I will be playing it soon.
