So I'm waiting in like to play Oboromuramasa at the Marvelous Booth. I'm waiting in line and I hear two people behind me talking in English. Instead of sitting around by myself in line, I turn around to start a conversation with them to pass the time. One of them turned out to be a Japan Corespondent for 4 Color Rebellion. The other was a Gentleman in a Blue Shirt wearing glasses which I'm not going to indentify right now. I started to talk to the 4 Color Rebellion guy about the Extra Life Charity that we're both involved in when the other Gentleman introduced himself.
We started talking about his site, which is an eclectic games sites where they talk about games and other such things. We started talking about weird "different" games and I mentioned Execution, the Jesse Venbrux game I had posted about on the site a few months back after Austin GDC. He failed to recognize the game, but did recall Jesse Venbrux as the creator of another game, Karoshi.
I had coincidentally had lunch with Jesse earlier that afternoon. He's in Japan interning in Kyoto at Q Games, the company responsible for the PixelJunk games, ie Racers, Monsters, and Eden. I was in the process of proposing that I introduce the two of them when Ryan Davis of GiantBomb walked by. I called out to Mr. Davis and as he was walking towards me, the Gentleman in the Blue Shirt asked me who he was. I explained to him and then put all my attention into talking to Ryan about Yakuza and Gobi Mako. I then took two photos with him and he went on his way.
I then realized I was a bit rude in my star struckness and turned back to the Gentleman in the Blue Shirt. I immediately apologized and again offered to introduce him and Jesse Venbrux. I then played Oboromuramasa and called Jesse to meet us at the booth. Afterwards, I waited for the Gentleman in the Blue Suit to finish his turn and then introduced the two. Feeling that I had accomplished something by putting together a game maker and a fan, I left them to their talk.
Here are the two pictures I took.
A.) He thought he would get in on the photo occasion and figured we were cool enough to make funny faces.
B.) He was upset at me for ignoring him when seeing Ryan Davis and thought this would be a good opportunity to ruin my photo.
From my stand point, I don't know the guy. So him being in it without my knowledge was kind of an intrusion. If he wanted in on the photo even that ok, but the photo wasn't really a "let's make jackasses of ourselves at the camera" photo. So, maybe he thought he'd ruin my photo and that I wouldn't find out until later. Maybe he was upset and thought that I ignored him for Ryan Davis. But I didn't and gave him his introduction like I said I would. So if that's the case then I kinda feel like a tool for trying to be nice to him.
What do you think?

i could see if a friend of yours would do that...just for something to laugh at later.but for a complete stranger to do something like that is effed up.he must of thought it would be ok if he did that. but the truth is you'll never see him again so why bother.
He may have just saw a photobombing opportunity and took it. He probably thought it would be ok since he had been talking to you for a little while. I think if he had truly been angry with you he would have done something vulgar or just abandoned any further conversations with you.
Wow, what a jerk. Even if he was joking around, still is rude of him to ruin the photo.
To be honest, I didn't even realize he was in the picture because I Ryan Davis is so much more important than some jack ass in the back ground...
Wait what guy?

Nice, keyweez! I was gonna do it, but you're much better at it.
I'd assume the guy was just looking for a photobomb opportunity. If he's at something as huge as fucking TGS and you recognize someone you want to talk to while in conversation with another person, he should know that it's not possible to have someone's complete attention on a showroom floor. It is generally a little rude to stop one conversation for another person, but I think being overseas at a massive convention with game creators and fans all around would be something of an exception. Besides, you told him who Davis was, then apologized to him. Like this guy never saw anyone at TGS he just wanted to make a beeline to talk to?
My guess is he probably thought it would be funny to photobomb at the time, but probably regrets it now. Must be a pretty mean spirited guy to want to ruin a photo of someone he knew you were interested in meeting and getting a picture with, though.
I dunno. Some people are just weird. But from your side of the story, I don't think there was any particular conversation etiquette rules you horrendously broke. You explained, you apologized, you still hooked the guy up with Jesse.
Ryan Davis, what a cool guy. Kind of rude for that random blue shirt guy to do that...
This guy is actually from Eegra.com. His sole purpose is to troll the conventions and generally be a very silly British guy. He may have been rude but that's what he does, is just be a jerk for the sake of being a jerk.
Go to eegra.com and watch his videos and interviews. He's actually very funny, I think.
Sorry to double-comment, but just some more info. His name is Patrick Alexander. Here's some videos.

That is fucking brilliant.
Oh wow, that's vaguely awesome. Patch is such a silly boy sometimes.
I'd say it was completely without malice, but you never know...
