Does Anyone Get This Game?

I went to Arcade UFO in Austin, Texas earlier this week. My game is Dance Dance Revolution and that's what I play. But next to the DDR machine, they have Mr. Driller machine. I've never played the arcade, Playstation, or Dreamcast versions, but I have played the DS one. I got pretty far into the game but never completely grasped the concept.

So I watched this video from the Arcade UFO blog. The only thing I can see that this person does differently from me is that they don't die. I can see some of the strategies he/she uses, but I can't see myself figuring it all out. I'm sure it's just a thing where I don't have enough experience playing the game, but I'm wondering if there's anyone out there that is really good at this game?

Thanks,
David

I've never played this game. Looks sorda like tetris except there's a mini character with a drill. I think you're suppose to blast blocks and at the same time keep from getting squashed. As for the purpose of this game... I don't know. =\

i had mr. driller on my modded psp, and me and my friends played the hell out of it. for some reason i really love this game. not the best at it, though. btw, when you try to drill through those dark brown blocks, it takes some extra button presses and costs you air, which is in those little containers that he's getting.

I have the Dreamcast version of it but only played it a handful of times. I had originally considered it something of a spiritual offspring of Tetris and Dig Dug. However, it didn't hook me into the simple yet enjoyable puzzle aspect of tetris nor the fun of Dig Dug (Tetris and Dig Dug, alongside Pac-Man are among my favorite games from my younger years).

I think I'll dig it back out, as it is my Dreamcast really only ever has Typing of the Dead, Marvel Vs Capcom 1 & 2 or Shenmue in it. It might appreciate a little Mr Driller under the cover.
