So you may or may not have heard that the 1up Network was recently acquired by UGO. Unfortunately, this has led to many layoffs, including big names like Philip Kollar, Shane Bettenhausen, Ryan O'Donnell, Nick Suttner, and the entire team running gamevideos.com. This means uncertain futures for the 1up yours podcast, 1up FM, and the 1up Show, three of my favorite podcasts.
I think I speak for everyone here at 4PP when I say that we wish everyone the best of luck in finding their footing. I shall try to remain positive because when Jeff Gerstmann was laid off from Gamespot, Giant Bomb was born. The notorious Shane B. already seems to have a game related job lined up for him so hopefully everyone else will have the same luck. Good luck to everyone and we will continue to show our support for your future endeavors!
Thanks,
4 Player Podcast Staff

It's just unbelievable this would happen to 1UP, they deffinitely didn't deserve it. I hope they all find great places to continue in their work. I'll miss you 1UP, I really will.

Rest in peace, 1UP. Loved the video podcasts and the personality. D:
It's really saddening to hear. I really enjoyed watching the 1UP show.
I wish them luck finding new jobs.
EGM also died thanks to this check the link

What's really messed up is the press release UGO sent out.
This is the direct quote from the press release:
"First of all, let me come out and say that there is no other gaming site like 1UP. Unlike some of the lumbering, impersonal behemoths out there, 1UP is all about its personalities..."
The hell? So they fire more than 40 people...
Also, on Shane's blog at 1up he made a post saying that he already had a job in the industry lined up before this deal went down.
You can read it here: http://www.1up.com/do/my1Up?publicUserId=1002415
you dont even know how sad i am about all this :[
Also the EGM is no more after this.
