New Podcast Needs a Name

We are quickly approaching the first episode of our "Revival" or "Game Club" podcast but one thing still remains.... We need a name. We need something that summarizes what this podcast is about. A name that tells people that this show is designed to champion older games or shead light on some lesser known titles. So throw some ideas our way. If we pick your title for the show, we will find some way to reward you. So send me your ideas to:

Nickhenderson@4playerpodcast.com

Keep in mind, this is a podcast. It is a RADIO show essentially so think of names that are reminiscent of audio talk shows. Get creative, I know you guys have it in you because I have seen the power of our awesome communinity. The first episode will be recorded as soon as we have recieved our interview with "Oddworld Inhabitants".

Lastly, if you have recently played through "Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath" and would like to ask a question or leave your opinions about it for us to read on the show, send me an email! It's almost here.

Thanks guys,
Nick

4PP Video Blog - Big Bang Mini

If you were around for the show this weekend, I talked about Big Bang
Mini for the Nintendo DS. Here is some footage I shot this morning.

Thanks,
David

Does Yakuza 3 have the best graphics ever? You be the judge.

Looks like the last layer of polish on this game pushed it past the uncanny valley.

Wowy wow wow wow.

Bourne Lives On

2008 Was a year that will plague me for the rest of my gaming life. All year, I had to endure as Brad and David constantly poked fun at the fact that I played and enjoyed (to a degree) "The Bourne Conspiracy". While I do believe that Brad has a genuine appreciation for the Bourne license, I can't help but shudder at the possibly of another year of Bourne jokes.

But.... It's going to happen.

After the Activision-Blizzard debacle from last year, the rights to the Bourne franchise were sold back to Ludlum entertainment. Luckily, Ludlum Entertainment has now sold the rights to Starbreeze studios, the developers of "Chronicles of Riddick", who are already hard at work at the next Bourne game. Needless to say... this makes me happy.

I am really excited to see what exactly this team can do with the franchise. It is always fun to watch multiple studios handle the same IP. I have faith in Starbreeze and I hope that they work their asses off to acquire the right to use Matt Damon's likeness because lets face it... the other "generic" Bourne was crap. Lastly, they better stick to action/adventure genre and not do something lame like.... make a Myst knockoff. (sorry Mr.Damon) You haven't heard the last of this from me, I assure you.

Women I Gave My Heart To

You know when a Girl is at her most beautiful? It's when she's playing the piano. I learned this lesson from my time with the girl I will tell you about today.

I met her in college. We both attended a prestigious Music School. At the time she was not sure whether she actually wanted to continue studying the piano or if she wanted to be a kindergarten teacher. She was always writing kids songs for classes that she was planning to teach. I found them to be quite hilarious actually. One of them was even called the "Fart Exercise."

We'd play piano together. Practice for exams. Have competitions. Play duets. My days were spent with her chasing me around campus. I was always trying to take things seriously but she of course was a goof ball, never taking anything seriously. Often times she would show up at my classes, bringing me lunch, pretending to be my wife. This always led to awkward situations that I could never fully explain to others.

There was an occasion where I spend the holidays, meeting her parents. They were just as crazy as her. They lived in a small town. Her dad was a fisherman. Her mom made clothes. Her little brother played soccer and her grandparents lived with them under one roof. It was one big party every day and it was awesome. They accepted me immediately. I had a second family. They were willing to do anything for me because they knew I would do the same for their daughter. They really understood how I felt, even though I was a little timid to show it to anyone else.

She of course, knew too. She was the kind of girl who got dressed up in a ridiculous Mongoose Outfit, danced around on stage, played the pianica, made me laugh. God those were amazing, memories. Those carefree feelings that she could just build up on me. She broke down every wall I had. Bit by Bit, until every one of my insecurities were just a pile of pebbles on the floor. She did it all, for me.

She had changed me so much. In relationships, that's what happens. You change each other. I, who was always serious, lightened up. Instead of sprinting to the finish, I slowed down and stopped to smell the roses. Appreciate the little things. She became part of me.

But she learned from me as well. The girl who never took anything seriously, started thinking about the future. She had talent in playing the piano. She was good. Much better than I was. So she started looking to further herself. She found a great school in France that accepted her. Basically took care of everything she would need. It was an opportunity that was best for her. Never would she have another chance like that. She took my advice and moved to Europe to pursue her music career. That was the part of me that became her.

Sure, she could have stayed with me. Became a kindergarten teacher and lived happily ever after. But when you care about someone. You want the best for them. Even if it's not you. I didn't know what she would find in France. It was a whole other world. If there's something or someone better, I wanted her to have the opportunity to have it. I couldn't live with myself having known that she stayed and settled.

I hope you're doing well, Noda Megumi
Love,
David

If You Were Here For The Live Show..

On Friday, I had a couple stories for the live viewers. In one of them I talked about the EGM prank that happened right before the Wii came out. I went around and found the footage. Ah the good old days, when Dan Hsu was around. I can't believe that it was only last April when Hsu left EGM. In my memory it was a couple years ago, even before Greg Kasavin left GameSpot. I guess my memory sucks. The dates are as follows

Greg Kasavin - January 3, 2007
Jeff Gerstmann - November 28, 2007
Dan Hsu - April 11, 2008
EGM - January 6, 2009

Don't worry guys, we're gonna get through this.

Looks pretty insane. I remember David calling this time last year a drought. I don't know if he could say that this time. March is pretty scary on the wallet too.

Tonight On The Feed...

I like singing. I'm not the best. I probably will never become the best. But I enjoy the hell out of it. I want to get better and part of that means doing it more and doing it in front of people. So tonight I'll continue my quest to become a better singer in hopes of one day doing more with music.

So I'll need a guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer tonight. Preferably with a good amount of DLC. You absolutely must have The Greatest Man That Ever Lived by Weezer.

See you tonight around 8 PM Central (9 PM 4PP)
David
